Yoga for Grief Series
Using yoga practices to sit in our grief
Service Description
All of us experience grief at some point - whether from the death of a loved one, a change in circumstances, an estrangement, or many other types of unexpected, unwelcome loss. This 4-week series will provide a compassionate space to tend to your heart and body through movement, mindfulness, and breathwork. The classes are not about “fixing” your grief, but rather about sitting with it - however it appears at a given point in time. Each class will focus on a different way that yoga and yoga philosophy can inform our grief journey. No prior yoga experience necessary! All poses/postures will be gentle and accessible to a wide range of abilities. If you have any questions about the classes, feel free to reach out to the instructor, Nancy Watson, at yogaforgriefdallas@gmail.com. Nancy Watson has been practicing yoga for over 25 years. She suffered a traumatic loss in 2019 and observed that the only thing that made her feel even a little bit less awful was continuing to come to her yoga mat. After completing the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT-200), she achieved an additional certification in Compassionate Bereavement Care Yoga facilitation. She's been offering her unique Yoga for Grief classes since January 2024 and is currently the only yoga teacher in the north Texas area with this specialty.
